Help with choosing a Degree :(

Please can someone help me?

Here's my situation;

So I want to do either a Software Engineering degree or a Computer Science degree. Which one should I do? I'm interested in Software Development and Computer Science in general.

How much multimedia design is there in computer science. I'm not really interested in how to use photoshop. Also, how much engineering is involved in computer science. Sure, I can swap a hard drive, remove the CD room and perform general computer admin tasks but how much engineering is involved? I'm a bit clumsy when it comes to stuff like that.

Lastly, is it worth it? Everyone seems to be good at computers now. Soooo many people do a computer science degree.

Thank you, ;)

EDIT: Also, how can I prepare for this degree. Should I learn another basic programming language? Do math that's related to computing in some way? If so what math and what language. Any more advice would be wonderful.

Everyone is good in computers, that I agree, but a computer engineer has more technical knowledge. Example, he knows how actually the computer works.

Computer Science comprises of knowledge from electrical and electronics engineering field too.
If you choose software engineering, then maybe the hardware knowledge would be less in it.

You will have to learn the mother of languages "C", thats easy to learn, then later if you doing in C then you can go for C++ and C#.

As you know computer is full of math and electronics, I think basic math knowledge is enough to do Computer engineering.

Computer science is quite theoretical and moves into the nitty-gritty language of methodologies. Prepping yourself with some prior understanding is not a bad idea at all, but remember that academic training is there to take you through the process one step at a time.

As Ankur pointed out basic computer understand is a dime a dozen, however true proficiency is rare. If you are interested in Computer Science then you'll be applying yourself to a higher than average level of understanding. One thing you can reliably measure in the job market is that when an employment field is in high demand the amount of semi-professionals bloat, while professionals are coveted. So yes - it's worth it.

One of the simplest ways to at least get your foot in the door is to really look at salary options, job spec and (importantly) degree options both online and/or on-campus. I personally begun my degree online and then moved to a campus part way through. See if this site helps you: http://www.onlinecomputersciencedegree.com/
