HELP, Wireless Basics

Hello, I am need to this forum and need some help. I just bought a HP NC6000 from a friend that bought a newer notebook. He gave it to me cheap. He said it needs a new NIC card. What is that. Can it just be removed and replaced. It also has bluetooth.

Is there anyway that i can connect to the internet with out the NIC card???


BASICALLY WHAT IS ALL THESE INTERNET TERMS MEAN AND HOW DO THEY WORK TOGEHTER.

nic card allows you to plug in an ethernet cord. Unless you have wireless on the laptop, you need to get a nic card...
 
ethernet? I have cable access, with a cable modem hooked up to my desktop at home. How could i use this cable modem with the ethernet hook up with my notebook. Also according to my internet service provider, will they see the notebooks mac address, or just the desktop if i have both hooked up???? thanks
