Help! Urgent!

Ok my friend is over right now and he has a killer XPS desktop machine but he lives on a hill where he can only get dial-up. I have a LAN and Im wondering how we can switch his settings from dial-up to modem-ready

What kind of home network are you on, do you have a router, how do you normally access the web. do you have a usb modem perhaps?

What?? I don't get that part...

So..are you wanting to allow him on your network or something? There's a little project you could try if so... I've seen a diagram of how to make a pretty strong antenna out of a Pringles can(or however you spell it) I hear they get a few miles in range, but it's only a straight shot. If you get a clean shot to his house, or vise-versa, you could probably rig something up to share a wifi connection ;) But, I don't know if that's what you wanted to do...please clearify...
 
i think his friend brought his computer down to his house and they want to hook it up to his internet... but im not sure lol
 
id post a link about cantenna's and the likes but the videos also contain things forbidden here. :(
 
is it illegal to enter someone's wireless network and take files if they were dumb eneugh not to encrypt their network?
