Help setting up security on a Linksys router

I've got a pair of XP boxes (Dell and HP) running through a 4 port wireless G router. I know the router is transmitting unsecurely (which is not a great thing since I'm in an apartment complex). I've read the manual, but can't make heads of tails of it and was hoping someone here might be able to help me in plain English. If I can get the overview of these concepts, I can figure it out from there; my brain seems to be stuck on this one.

Thanks.

If you don't have any wireless devices, just totally turn off the wireless capability of your router. If you do have some, turn off broadcast and I would suggest using WPA or WEP, these should be in your security settings. You'll need to set up whatever wireless devices you are using with the same security code though.

Thanks. I'm not by it at the moment (it's home) so I'll look at the wireless and disable it. That should cover everything? The DHCP takes care of the rest of the management issues, is that right?

If you disable broadcast, the only people who can find it are ones that know its name, and without the WPA, they can't get an IP from it to use. I've never really messed with DHCP, I usually leave it to assign itself, but I believe if you want to set a value for it and assign it to any wireless devices, that should work too. And as long as you have the wireless disabled, the only way someone should be able to use the connection is to plug a cable in the back of the router.
