Reciprocity

So I'm new to this forum and am no tech wizard that's for sure
Booted up my desktop yesterday and everything's fine until I left click my wireless mouse to activate it and move the cursor. Cursor doesn't budge I changed the batteries in the mouse (making sure the polarity is correct). Stll nothing. So I hit the miniscule reset button on the underside of the mouse for at lease 5 seconds - still nothing. Now, I'm not sure what brand of mouse this is. I can't tell what or where the receptor is for the mouse. There's something in the usb port at the front of the cpu but for some reason I think it's just a memory stick or something. Doesn't appear to have any buttons on it for re-setting. Anybody got any ideas of what I can try or look for next? Seems that you need to re-set something on the receptor and well as the mouse in order to get the mouse working again but I can't see anything at the front or back of the cpu that looks like it might be the receptor for the mouse
