Help Re-Setting Wireless Mouse!

Reciprocity

So I'm new to this forum and am no tech wizard that's for sure :D

Booted up my desktop yesterday and everything's fine until I left click my wireless mouse to activate it and move the cursor. Cursor doesn't budge  I changed the batteries in the mouse (making sure the polarity is correct). Stll nothing. So I hit the miniscule reset button on the underside of the mouse for at lease 5 seconds - still nothing. Now, I'm not sure what brand of mouse this is. I can't tell what or where the receptor is for the mouse. There's something in the usb port at the front of the cpu but for some reason I think it's just a memory stick or something. Doesn't appear to have any buttons on it for re-setting. Anybody got any ideas of what I can try or look for next? Seems that you need to re-set something on the receptor and well as the mouse in order to get the mouse working again but I can't see anything at the front or back of the cpu that looks like it might be the receptor for the mouse

Sounds like you already did everything except one thing.

goto start / computer then right click device manager.
Find the mouse. have an exclamation?
right click update driver.
if that fails then unplug out of usb and find another port and plug in. If that fails you will have to find and maybe update the drivers maybe either from windows update but likely the manufacture.

Maybe ya said and maybe not. It might have on the mouse on the bottom and on/off switch. there should be some kind of light when picking the mouse up.

Mouse has no on/off switch and it is lighting up so the mouse itself has power. I'm not sure how I can go to start/computer and right click when I can get the cursor to move on the screen so I can point the cursor at start/computer - unless I'm misunderstanding you on that??

Sorry, my mistake. I do not know of any way to log in. Other than that they are cheap enough. you will have to get one somewhere.

Or ..... just go back to the wired in mouse. Never had an issue 'til I got all fancy-pants

Thanks anyway for responding.
