If you have a broadband modem thing which sits outside the computer, and connects to the computer via usb port. Do you need a modem inside that it fits to or not?
Becuase I am buying a new computer and keeping my wanadoo broadband speedtouch thing, but the new computer does not come with an internal modem. Is this ok?
Many thanks

yes it will work but getting a ethernet card that fits in one of your pci slots will be alot more stable and better all round their only cheap, just plug it into a spare pci slot turn the pc on and install the drivers from the provided disk

OR SIMPLY SAID ;)

1. If it connects using a USB, you do not need a modem.
2. If you would like to use the ethernet cable, make sure your motherboard has an ethernet port :)

K Thanks. So it'll be ok just to plug into usb. But it is better with ethernet cable. How much are they usually, and what advantage does it have. Lastly, if the cable was plugged in a pci socket, where does the speedtouch modem plug into?
Thanks

Ethernet is more stable connection than USB for high speed connection, the cards are cheap and easy to install-Office Max-Office Depo
