Hi guys: i have installed a Video card RV 250 Ati 9000 on my
Dell Demention 4500 P4,and it has a small fan and i checked and it's not moving at all, my question is, will it run when it gets to a certain temperature?.

Also in the Bios set up there is an option on the video setting,
PCI and AGP when i change it to AGP it will not change and stays at PCI by default,is this normal on a Ati 9000 card?.
Also i bought two sticks of 1g of mem ram to make the Dell Demention 4500 P4 2 Gigs of mem ram to change the 2 sticks of 525mb each.
i've noticed on the specs of Dell 4500 it sais max 1Gb.
my question will i take advantadge of the 2 gib mem ram that i ordered?

Thanks in advance

  1. Firstly, that motherboard supports a maximum of 1GB of RAM, either way:
  2. go here and ensure you have everything Intel related updated.
  3. Restart.
  4. Then go here and make sure you have the latest video card drivers.
  5. Restart.
  6. Then go here and update your motherboard BIOS
  7. Go here and make sure you install patch one and patch two.
  8. Restart.
  9. Go here and update direct X.
  10. Update Windows.

All that because his video card fan doesn't work (he needs a new video card or cooling fan)and wanting to know if his motherboard will support 2 gb of ram when in fact it only supports 1gb? A lot of work for nothing. What is this BS all about? Your update bios and driver rant is getting old and most of the time has nothing to do with the issues the OP is having, same with this case here.

After your setting it to AGP are you picking save setting and exit the bios?

What on earth are you talking about? Motherboard bios (which includes a fix for ATI video cards) and chipset drivers have a direct impact on how the motherboard identifies and handles hardware. His motherboard doesn't keep AGP settings and his graphics card is probably fine. The bios driver rant (as you call it) has recently solved more problems where you've claimed new hardware is required when it hasn't been...

Ive told him that 1GB is the max (question answered)
Ive asked him to update the bios (which has a specific AMD graphics fix)
Ive asked him to update all the chipset drivers (which is easy and good practise)
Beyond that, ive simply ensured that the graphics drivers and DirectX are installed correctly and that the patches for his motherboard are installed.

Nothing BS about that and time and time again its solved issues...

Thanks guys; update: i received the 2 sticks of 1GB mem ram each today , installed and it's working fine it shows 2gb on system info, see pic,
also about the fan all i wanted to know was if the fan is supposed to ran all the time or just when it's hot, i can eather get another fan or build one that's not the problem, but before i do all that work i want to make sure i don't do it for nothing, thanks

But what do these patches have to do with the cooling fan on the video card? Not a darn thing. Those patches are for cd rom drives pio/dma issue and hard drive to stop from being indexed. Direct x will have nothing to do with the cooling fan on the video card. The bios update is for a memory latch problem not a cooling fan that doesn't work issue. The same thing for video card driver update, not gonna help a cooling fan not working.

I'm not saying that your posts don't help members that need help but I've seen more that have nothing to do with the OP concerns then ones that do in fact solve the issues they are having.

None of the above has anything to do with a video card fan not working or the bios staying in AGP mode.

Plus I would not advise everyone that has a issue to update the bios. Unless its specially for the problem. Have seen a lot more average computer users brick the board not really knowing what they are doing then help.

Hi guys;Update on the video card fan,i had a PC small 6v fan hanging around and had to trim the Fan blades to fit the hit sink bed, also had to lift it a little bit with plastic rings cause it was Half a quarter inch thicker, then i attached the fan wires to the same 5 v card output and so far has been working like a charm,i love my inventions.

Might have been able to fit a Motherboard chip set fan on that,You can buy them quite cheap..and just swap over the connectors so it looks better,And of course woud be a brand new fan.

Would have to check sizes though as they vary.

That thing looks...rough lol.

At least you got it sorted :D

yes it looks rough but it does the job, better than the one that was there before cause it blows more air, it looks rough cause i had to use a solder tool to glue it up to the frame, and for free what can one ask more!.
