Help please.

I didn't know where to post this. I seen the video card one, I just didn't think the video card was the problem.

When I open files from my email, the sound will play but no video. I can watch youtube, etc. It doesn't matter what program I use, although I prefer Windows Media Player. Anyone have any idea? And if it's the wrong forum, my bad. Just sound, no video.. MPEGs, I think. I don't know.. whatever files that WMP and the others are used to play.
 
Try install codec pack... use different media player. I recommend media player classic home cinema. If that doesn't work, maybe the mpeg file is corrupt...
 
Yeah, sounds like you don't have the correct codec to play that sort of file. I would recommend downloading VLC Player, which is a great application that can play nearly every sort of audio or video file.

i downloaded the k-lite codec mega whatever.. still won't work.. im downloading VLC, if that doesn't work.. the player he spoke of.. reinstalling the mega whatever for the cinema crap.. then beating the wall.
 
is there anything I could have turned off, or screwed around with? I'm going to go out on a limb here, John... you know 1000 times as much as me about computers.
 
Did everything used to work correctly on this machine or is this a new build? Did you try doing a system restore back to when it was working correctly?
 
ill try that.. no, it's just some cheap acer thing. it use to work.. so i'll go back a year. lol its been a while
