Hi, i have recently upgraded my old desktop to XP pro and for some reason it is not allowing any incoming connections. I have tried pinging it but keep getting request timed out, i cannot access apache web server through anything but the local machine, i cannot use the windows networking functions and cannot connect to it through remote desktop connection, it is connected to w router which recognises it in the list of computers connected to it vie the DHCP server and i can see it through My network places but cannot access it, there is no firewall enabled on the computer, and i have ran the network setup wizard multiple times, but still cannot connect to it, has anyone got any suggestions
Thanks,
Lee

almost had the same prob , first go run, cmd, ipconfig, check that the ip address and default ip address are the same as your settings , if its same then i can't help you , but if it different go to settings and it may be your password not correct, but i,m sure others will help

It has no firewalls enabled (as for some reason it won't even alow me to enable the windows firewall :P) and no to ipadresses are the same in ipconfig, so i am pretty confused to what it could be, the only thing that comes to mind is that i tried installing IIS but couldn't get it to work so got rid of it, and think it was around that time that it stopped working, is it possible that that has something to do with it? Maybe i should just do a fresh install of windows, as i don;t have much on it anyway, or is there a way to fix it?
Thanks, Lee

I got it working at last by reinstalling windows and running the net. setup wizard a few times, but still can;t understand why it even stopped working in the first place:S
