Help on accessing another computer from network

:confused: I need to know if I can do this or not. I have set up a local area network. I have a laptop and a desktop, connected through a wireless router. Now, can I access my desktop from my laptop and act like I am working from the desktop?

Here is the skinny.. I have a music program on the desktop, which is hooked up to a receiver which is hooked up to outdoor speakers. Can I access this desktop from my laptop and utilize the music from outside? So can I operate the desktop from my laptop through this network??

Please help me...:confused:
 
Not using the regular method like sharing music. Although you could use a Sharing program like www.logmein.com.

You actually control the whole pc over an internet explorer or Firefox window.

And it is free.
 
You can do this using Remote Desktop, depending on which version of Windows you are running. What is the laptop and desktop running?
