Help! Monitor speakers quit working when I moved monitors

I moved my dual monitors at work to a new desk today, and the speakers on my main monitor quit working when I plugged everything back in. I'm only getting sound through the internal speaker. Also, when I open the sound mixer there are only three items, instead the four that used to be there. What do I do to fix this? I would hate to call the IT guys down just so I can listen to the radio better. thanks!

If you right click on the picture of the speaker in the bottom right and select playback devices.
Then check to see that your speakers are default. Make sure the speakers are plugged in the correct hole on the back of the desktop.

That was actually the problem. fortunately I figured that out about an hour after I posted this question and have not been waiting all this time for an "expert" to chime in. thanks anyway!
