General Usage

* The camera will mostly be used for taking pictures of people and occasional sceneries when I come accrose it. Like the sun set, clear blue sky, or lakes.

* I don't plane to make any big prints with it. but don't mind having it.

Will you be shooting a lot of indoor photos or low light photos?

Mostly outside photos, and occasional indoor photos. and offcourse low light photos here and there, like when i see the UFO at night, gota have a picture of that!

Will you be shooting sports and/or action photos?

I would like the camera be able to shot moving pictures with clear edges.

Miscellaneous

Are there particular brands you like or hate?

I like Sony for their design. and don't hate any brands in particular. No name brand are a no no.

Are there particular models you already have in mind?

I can't decide between

Sony Cyber-shot 5.1-Megapixel Digital Camera - Silver
Model: DSC-T5

and

Sony Cyber-shot 8.1-Megapixel Digital Camera
Model: DSC-W100

I like the DSC-T5 because it looks good and is slim and cheaper than the DSC-W100. Sale: $237.49 at bestbuy

DSC-W100's 8.1MP excites me but i don't realy need it if MP only means bigger pictures. which of these two camera will have better picture qulity? Sale: $332.49 at bestbuy

It does not have to be sony cameras only, as long as any other well known name brand cameras that are sleek and slim with excellent design.

Thanks everyone.

First off, kudos on the information format, really easy to understand :)

On the camera, there are some Canon ELPHs (the SD450, SD550) that would match the requirements that you are throwing out there. And there is a new line of Kodak dual lens cameras that are almost as small, and a lot more powerful.

$399.99 standard retail for a 5x optical, 5MP camera - Model V570 (sale at Circuit City - $379.99) http://www.circuitcity.com/ssm/Koda...sem/rpsm/oid/143084/rpem/ccd/productDetail.do
$449.99 standard retail for a 10x optical, 6.1MP camera - Model V610 ($424.99 at Best Buy) http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=7796986&type=product&id=1142298275554

The cool thing about the Kodaks are that the lenses don't move externally of the casing of the camera, which reduces the risk of damage to the lens. Plust the lenses are made by Schneider-Kruznach, a very high-quality German lens manufacturer. I know it's a litt higher than you wanted, but if you can afford it, it is the best.

Thanks DCIScouts. I didn't comeup with the information format, I found it somewhere on the net and though it may come in handy. ^^

They are a little to expansive for me right now, but I will look into it when i goto circuitcity tomorrow.

Thanks DCIScouts

That format should become a standard on CF. Very easy to understand. I didn't get a good look at the cameras mentioned above, but they look fine.

ok, i have decided on Sony Cyber-shot 5.1-Megapixel Digital Camera - Silver
Model: DSC-T5. Charging the battery right now. ^^

It has Lithium Type T rechargeable battery. Is it also better to charge it more offten than charge it when it is completly dead?

thanks

What setting should i use when taking following kind of pictures.
What size setting.

1286 x 860, 2048 x 1536, 2592 x 1728, 2592 x 1944

People,
sceneries,
close up of a flower
walter drops

I don't plant on making any large prints. will the size of the picture effect the qulity of the picture. Or is it the bigger the size/the more pixes the better qulity of the picture will be?

EDIT: ooo, it took me that long to write this up gathering info and it seems you have bought it already recently.:P
Well, I'll still leave it here as food for thought

I want to start out by saying.. "The quality of the photos are mostly the ability of the photographer, and a little of the camera"

SIZE: I'd say you will probably not get one with an image quality of 10 for what you want to achieve. Camera's like the T5 and similar sized cameras are usually point and shoot. Your image quality will be around 6-8.

GENERAL USAGE: The small size like the T5 is great for the point and shoot there but, I would suggest maybe something a tad little bulkier. If you dont plan on carrying a tripod around with you everywhere you go so your always ready for scenary shots, the small size of cameras like the T5 will not allow you to produce quality 10 pictures due to human's unsteady hands.

ACTION PHOTOS: Moving pictures with clear photos? Again, probably not beneficial if you are going for small point and shoot type camera's like the T5. For this, I might recommend something like Panasonic for thei image stabalization because they were one of the first ones to come out with the ability and has thus, progressed.

Concluding, I'd say you will probably not get a quality 10 photo from a small card sized point and shoot camera. So I'd say dont get the T5. Crisp action photos? Probably not the best to get point and shoot cameras.

I would say, get something a little bulkier so that if you dont have a tripod handy (which I assume you will not carry it with you everywhere you go), you can still steadily hold it for great landscape shots.

But if you still want the convenience and comfort of the card sized camera's with point and shoot capabilities, I might stay something like the Panasonic Lumix DMC-FX01 that recently came out. It has wide angle lense (28mm) and that's a great plus on card sized cameras. Also can be mounted on a tripod.

A review is here if your interested:

You can find it for roughly 300 give or take.

computerhakk, i realy appreciate your help. T5 is my first digi cam so the chances are i gona get more down the line. I will keep what you said here in mind.

Thanks. ^^

Li-Ion batteries are fine to do pretty much whatever with as far as charging is concerned. They are NOT like Ni-MH or Ni-Cd that need to drain every once in awhile to remain charged. Most of mine, I use and then charge when I'm done with it until it's fully charged and store it until next time :).

I see. Thanks. I was a little confused because it says Lithium Type T.
