Help Mac or not

I need some help here.

My daughter went to the University of Alabama.
I think that most schools, colleges and businesses use a Mac laptop.

Out in the world I have always had the Dell or HP computer or laptop.
Same for my daughter.

She has a Acer laptop right now that she uses at work, the virus and other potection ran out and she got some virus that killed her internet explorer.

After putting a anti-virus 360pro back in and letting it work to clear things up she has put in for me to help her get a Mac laptop.

From what I have found they do not come with most of the software that I'm use to today . Some can be added but something has to be downloaded first.

But seams the more I search on this the more problems I find on them.

Anyone here use these and what are your thoughts on the Mac laptop.

Quite a lot of software that is compatible with windows won't be compatible with a mac. I'd do some research on them, or perhaps go into a apple store and play with one for a bit with your daughter to see if she's comfortable using it. The store will be able to help you with software compatibility issues.

Are you kidding. Show me 100 pieces of useful software college students use that aren't compatible on mac.

I have a mac mini right now that I use but I've also used a macbook before which is the laptop. Basically, if you have programs that run on Windows but not on mac, what you can do is download a program (free) for mac called BootCamp which will allow you to install Windows on a mac-based computer or laptop.

After installing Windows, you'll now have Mac OSX (Apple Operating System) and you'll also have Windows so you will be able to choose between the two to meet your needs.

Any piece of vital software is also made for the Mac, or if not there is a Mac alternative by a developer who makes Mac software. Furthermore there are many ways to run Windows Applications on a Mac. Macs can also run Linux, Unix, OS X, and Windows natively. If anything, a Mac is the "Most-compatible," computer out there.

Boot camp comes preinstalled. It also is just a boot loader and an installer that allows you to partition and install Windows on your Mac. This still requires you buy a license to Windows.

They're reliable machines physically, and it's not likely that she'll run into a compatibility barrier just by doing schoolwork, but she's going to have to learn another OS while doing so. That's the only "problem" I see here, but any monkey with half a brain can figure out OS/X well enough to do schoolwork on it.

Shes out of college . You always here about these people that works from home on there computer and/or cell phone.
She lives in Atlanta Georgia and her work area is Texas.

Every since college she has wanted a Mac, So I told her I would help her to get a laptop.

I try to look up what I can on things like this before buying.
But I talked with a guy the other day that said Mac gave alot of trouble, not virus wise just trouble. And I have been told that alot of regular PC software will not work with a Mac.

So I found this site and now I;m searching, Thanks for the input.

Software written for Windows won't work on a Mac, no, but typically there's either a Mac version of it or a suitable alternative. Sometimes, the Mac version is even on the same disk.

question

one of my main questions right now, micrsoft word.

is there a Mac version or something just like it.

Yes, MS makes Office for Mac. Whoever told you they are nothing but trouble probably never took the time to learn the differences of the Mac platform.
