ughhh. i installed the ssd just now on my new laptop, everything went fine. i made all the recovery dvd's a couple of nights ago and it said they were completed.........after i installed the ssd and put the first dvd disk in, it loaded windows 7 for me, and then i got samsung's recovery solution center to pop up. i tried all the options but nothing worked past this point.......

it said "insufficient disk space."

no options worked at all. im wondering if there is something wrong with my SSD or if it is def the dvd's? when i put the first recovery disk in, the drive was making the same sound every few seconds, but then the samsung recovery program showed up, so it got me thinking that everything would be fine.....

should i just buy a new windows program and install it? (either 7 homepre or win8)..... im just wondering if its the dvd's, the ssd or my dvd drive? i need to fix this asap

also, if i can't get this SSD to work, could i just buy an enclosure for the HDD? Win7 and everything will run from that right?

Most likely you didn't create a big enough partition on the ssd drive. Thats the reason you are getting that message. What SSD drive did you get?

You need 100 posts to be able to send/receive pm's and you don't have that yet.

So did you partition the drive at all or no? The recovery cd's may be trying to create a hidden recovery partition on the ssd and it can't do it. You may have to contact samsung for support.

i don't think i partition'd the drive, im not exactly sure what that means....

i made a thread before i bought the laptop and ssd, and other ppl told me that i had to create recovery cd's, which i did, for a total of 5 dvd's...... 4 win7 dvd's and 1 for all the original software that was added..... samsung's recovery cd's went from 1 to the next and all were created fine... i put the 1st dvd in right after i pressed power and thought everything was fine.... now im in a pickle on what i should do....

buy windows 8? get an enclosure and install the wind7 home premium from the hdd? or should i put the hdd back and somehow reinstall win7 on dvd's? idk........ what do u think is best?

I would contact samsung first to see if they can help you sort it out. I remember using recovery cd's on an acer laptop on a new hard drive and I had to create a partition first before the install would take place. Not sure in your case though.

is there any software i could use to partition the drive? i would just do that first, tbh......samsung is terrible for customer support.........i contacted them before i even received the laptop and ssd for what size screwdriver i would need and they didn't even know (and i told them the exact model number of the laptop and ssd). unbelievable

john, could i just buy windows 8 and install that fresh copy? would everything be fine if i did that? (windows 7 and the bloatware programs are all that i have on my new laptop)

Question (1)
Did you get Windows 7 installed. Did it boot up. If it booted up, wouldn't you be able to make a 2nd partition for Recovery Drive.
Question (2)
If you buy Windows 8 make sure you get the Professional, I wouldn't want the Standard version.

alien, no i have not tried anything else on that laptop, ive been busy with work so hopefully later today ill get to fix it......but i'm still now sure what the best thing is to do with it......just waiting for advice on here

i press power, then insert my recovery disk # 1, and it says loading files, then brings me to samsung's recovery solution center, and thats it. i cant do a "basic backup, complete back," or anything else..............not sure what i should do.

what do you guys think? get an enclosure?
