Help- I Need Some Advice If I Should Buy Logitech Z5500 for Regular 5.1 Sound System

I just bought Logic Tech V10 Notebook speakers for my Toshiba Tecra Notebook & they sound great for what I'm using them for: Playing back torrent video &
audio files. The internal Toshiba notebook speakers were adequate but lacked volume, punch & depth & these speakers which cost me all of $16 with shipping on Ebay sound great for what & how I'm using them for: Up close, 2 feet away on my bed, listening to shows I've downloaded. I only use my notebook on my bed. My question is, I have a good home stereo system (Denon 3801 Receiver, Harmon Kardon 31 DVD Player, Jolida CD player, HD DVR & Orb Audio $850 5.1 speaker system that I got 3 years ago) but will the Logitech 5.1 Z-5500 system which is meant to be used with a computer, sound better then my existing speakers if I use them without the computer? Or did the Logictech speakers sound so good just because I was listening to them 2 feet away? I basically am assuming my 5.1 DVD & TV sound will be better with Logictech. Please note, I will not be using a computer for my home system. Am I better off sticking to what I have? I figure at worse I can always resell the Z-5500 on Ebay.

A dedicated home system will always sound better than a computer speaker, if, they are good quality speakers.

Less harmonic distortion, lower signal to noise ratio are just a few things that would make a home system sound better.

But it all depends on the speakers, any sound system is based around the speakers, you buy those first and then get the rest of the equipment to match the speakers. The speakers are the most important part of a sound system.
