i have this incredible impulse to build a new computer.
i don't know why, but there are lots of awesome hardware out there and i want a piece of it all.
cc is close to maxed, and i don't need a new computer.
i want to build a quad core/ 8gb ram just because.
my brain is really focused on computers and my homepage is set to newegg!
how do i make it stop !?

look inside your current case and drool, or look inside your wallet and cry. both things will stop you from building a new PC :P

you already have a realy nice rig, dont see why you would want to upgrade just yet.

Vid card maybe yes but everything else....no point.

a nice 4870x2 would be nice.

I would say you need an upgrade, but honestly man im the same way. I always feel I want to build another computer, iv got the money I just know I don't need to spend it. I want to build a low end gaming machine though

this weekend i will redo my workspace and bring out my pc from under the desk and put it to right where i can see it. its an antec 900, no mods but still looks very nice. i think i'll do that.
the x2 dont work very well in my motherboard, at least that's what others are reporting.
i did have two 1gb 3870s in crossfire, but wanted to upgrade to two 4870. lol, see what i mean.
i just can't get enough. i only have one, but as soon as i sell the two 3870s i'll get the other one.
this is bad, since i only play counter strike source :(
is there a computerholics anonymous?

I would say you need an upgrade

I'd say he has a fine rig. I don't see any need to upgrade. But I do agree that many of us, including myself, are addicted to new hardware. Just don't break yourself doing it. Maxing out credit cards and such is a terrible approach and not worth it. Computer hardware depreciates the minute you open up the package, so it's not exactly a good investment. All my upgrades are funded by selling my old hardware.

Well said mep,I reguarly look on ebuyer at pc parts,Im also addicted to upgrading and improving my system.

im a tight person though,i dont like spending my cash which is a good thing realy or i would have wasted a load of money on a an i7 rig right now and a 4870x2 with 8gb of memory.

I have the cash...but im wise with it ;)

Just resist the temptation...you can do it :)

Get married, you'll never have the money again to even think of upgrading. :D

TFT has the exact correct answer...It will work perfectly!

Really though...it is hard not to order an new piece of hardware like every day. I look at Newegg several times a week and piece some upgrades together just to see what it would be.

The only thing I want to buy is a couple of new guns and that gets expensive. I would love a new car, but mine is fully paid off next year so I will have no car payment next year which means I will be able to save an extra $300 a month, which will then allow me to start to buy some stuff I want.

I don't have an HD TV. I don't have cable, I don't watch TV really at all. They are awesome, HD and blu ray kick ass, but they aren't like needed in my mind.

You just got to realistic of needs and wants.

yeah, i'm looking at those i7s.
not so sure about ddr3 ram though.
i piece a few systems on newegg, then i realize, games don't need 4-cores, or 8gb ram, and i snap out of it. happens every day.

Like LFT comment.
then again. ...... deal with it when its time. use it up.
get it right on the next build.
thats ok too!
