Help Hosting A Domain Myself

Hi all,
I recently purchased a .com domain and I was wanting to host my website myself, running an apache server from a dedicated linux machine. So, basically I want the .com domain to point to my linux apache server, so whenever someone goes to my domain, it will pickup my website on my apache server. At the moment I'm not sure how to get this to work and need a little help getting in the right direction. Thanks.

you need to host your domain through a provider that can forward it to whatever host you want, including yourself.

Domain forwarding is what this is called, and most domain hosts (like godaddy.com) allow this, but some make you host it through them. It depends some hosting companies just suck

Also, be wearyof your ISP, they probably do not allow web hosting on consumer broadband lines and may make you stop hosting the site or make you upgrade to business class broadband.

There is typically an app or a utility you can install and set up via CP on your Domain's host site. There should be an FAQ and tech support through your host to configure this.
