Help! Boot issue

My computer has been running great for the last 3 years, no blue screens, no crashing.. but an hour ago my ferret ran behind my computer and turned off the serge protector. I turned it back on and started my computer, the mobo splash screen showed up and then it goes to the loading where the white _ blinks in the top left corner, for about 10 times, then the screen stays black. I press the power button once and my computer turns off, if I don't do anything it will stay black for ever.

I took my RAM out and it doesn't beep at me. I took I unplugged everything and held the power button down. Still nothing. I can go into SETUP and the MOBO screen but as far as that goes just a black screen.
 
Either download the hard drive makers disk diagnostic utility and run it or put your drive in another machine and do a check disk on it. Either way should fix the issue and allow you to book back into windows.
 
Most likely, but just run a disk diagnostic on it and it should repair any errors that it finds. Anytime that the power gets shut off while a computer is running is not a good thing.
