Headset/Sound/Mic Help

I am currently using Turtle Beach Earforce x11 as my sound source, and my microphone. They have been working perfectly, until one day, I turned on my PC and they were making a much louder fuzz noise then normal. Also, when I enter into my friends Ventrilo server (VoIP) they complain of my microphone having horrible static, and my words being almost unrecognizable. Could this be a sound error that could be fixed with a simple change of settings? Or are my headphones shot?

This doesn't sound like a software error. You can try reinstalling the drivers to see if it helps, but I doubt that'll solve it. Try unplugging and plugging in your mic and see if it helps. Also wiggles around/rotate it to see if the static changes.
