Headset Advice

Okay I'm going to be ordering a headset tomorrow for my system.

I currently have an M-Audio 2496 Audiophile Soundcard hooked up to a Pionerr A-229 Amplifier which run my S30's.

I've been looking around scan.co.uk for headsets and have found that most of them use 3.5mm audio/mic jacks for connectivity.

What I would like to know is, can I play my music through my soundcard/amp/speakers, whilst at the same time use the mic on my headset via onboard audio?

I want to use the headset for Skype and games

Obviously I'll have to enable the onboard audio inside the bios and install drivers for both soundcards.

Also, I would like to just plug in my headset, and have audio go through the onboard chip automatically without having to switch over the sound output in windows every time.

Is this possible?

Thanks!

Try it and see if it will work. Skype has a setting in tools that lets you pick which Sound Card to use. I suppose you would have to see if the games will let yo do the same thing, or they may just use whatever is considered the default sound card.

I use Skype on a Wireless usb Headset, and all other sounds thru the PC sound.
