Headphones

Is there any way to have my headphones in my PC at ALL times but being able to switch without unplugging them from using my headphones to my speakers?

I plug and unplug them a lot and I don't want the input jack to deteriorate like they have in the past. If I can switch through what is playing through the software of the PC rather than unplugging the hardware would be fantastic

Most Computers the Headphone jack breaks the speaker connection mechanically when the headphones are plugged in, so software can't over ride that.

There are Computer Speakers that have a spot to plug in Headphones, and bypass the problem you mention.

I built a small black box out of a few bucks of Radio Shack Parts. It plugs into the Computer Speaker Jack, and the Black Box has jacks to plug in the PC Speakers and Headphones.

On top of the Black Box is a Switch to flip between Speakers and Headphones, and even a Volume Control Wheel so you don't need to use Windows Sound Control for Volume.

In another part of the House I got the Computer hooked to a Stereo System, and use the Stereo to do all the Sound Controls from remote control. Great solution if you have a Sound system.
