Headphones with High Bass

I always preferred Koss brand head phones for offering deep bass over other brands with the high quality sound found on the lower cost brand. In the last few years however they have been made with cheap plastic hinges and frames! Recently I went with a pair of cordless Sony with slightly less bass response to offer on those. Newegg does carry a set with a metal band seen at http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16826106370
Anyone who has that as a oreference in music that's who. You may have your favorite groups or type of music while someone else has their's. The real question here is on finding a good pair of head phones with deep bass response. That can also apply to other styles of music as well as hip hop.

if your budget would allow it the bose triports have really good bass for around $150.
you'd definitely be better off with over ear style phones versus the in ear or on ear.

They're suprisingly good. And i'm pretty fussy when it comes to headphones.
And they're not just "earbuds" these actually form fit into your ears, and in doing so, are able to use the airight passage between the drivers and your eardrums as an enclosure, of sorts.
It's unreal.
Their high end drivers, i think they're e5c? are actually on-stage monitors for musicians. And instead of using the one-size fits all foam or rubber earpieces, you can get an actual molded earpiece by visiting a doctor or hearing aid specialist.

Gee? I think this thread belongs in the off topic section! It's not one type or another it;s the quality and bass response for a particular head set sought. Once you get into having custom fitted ear pieces on head sets you are then taking high prices expected to be seen on studio gear. The Koss pair mentioned earlier would have been a grab here if I didn't simply go for a pair of cordless to allow mobility while working on something.

I hate the Shure e2c's and will probably upgrade to the 3 or 4 models when they die (2 year warranty = awesome).
Try the Sony MDR-XD-100.
I own this set of headphones and they are really good once you crank them up with my sound card utility.
They are 50 dollers as last ive seen in australia at dick smith.
Sometime back I tried a set of Sony head phones to compare them to Koss. The pair by Sony then sounded like an old dog looking into monograph icon RCAVictor records uses for their trade name. In other words mid range only is the best description for those. Without paying a high price for studio quality phones Koss remained the top.
The current set of Sony cordless spotted in of all places Radio Shack offers far better sound then those old ones while not quite what you are looking for there. Without the cordless here the Koss set with the metal band over the plastic frames seen at newegg would be looked at here since deep bass is needed here at times. For the top stuff you will then have to start in the high price range there.

These were a pair grabbed in a dept store some time back. Those weren't anything recently when I ran into those. That was in 1998 or '99 then. If you could hear how those sounded you wouldm't have to ask why I stuck with Koss!
They sounded like a mid range tunnel or an 1930's turntable with a single funnel for sound! Those had a heavier plastic frame for the full set then. Nowadays everything has gone lightweight and fall apart fast. Like the old style Koss and ohter makes they looked like studio headphones only plactic and foam ear pieces.
