Headphones or sound card

I have BOSE QuietComfort3, and would like to know if it is better to use a good X-FI card to simulate 7.1 in them, or to get a gaming headphone with multiple speakers?
Thinking a budget of 100 - 150

depends on the games you are going to be playing..... and do you have the space if you have 5.1 or 7.1 speakers???

willl be playing Crysis and other FPS. Don't really have a good space for putting in speakers, and thought 'simulated' might work better.

Getting gaming PC with Quad core Q9550, dual 512 9800gt in SLI, 780i mobo, 4G Ram, but integrated audio.

How would I connect headphones to X-FI? I've read that they don't connect well to front ports, and don't understand how I would plug in headphones to get the simulated surround sound. Have to go into the back? Or get the Champion version with the front drive bay with separate inputs?

You will have to connect it into the sound card, you might to get a sound extension cable.

The front audio is only for the onboard sound.

In some cases you can plug the wire from the front jack into the soundcard... at least my Sound Blaster 4.1 ("lol") has a little connector for an external audio jack.
