headphone extension cable

A store like Walmart, Target, Best Buy, Compusa, Circuit City, and just about any retail department store usually carry some cords like that. The quality of an extension cord is another matter. What you are looking for there is the 1/8" mini-plug on one end with the female socket on the other. You shouldn't have to pay over $5-$7 depending on the length you are looking for.
 
oh good. i, actually, sadly could not find anything of the sort on newegg. technically i only need about a foot in length:P
 
These days you can to most department stores and look in the consumer electronics section to find cables like that for a few bucks there. For ones with the gold contacts for the high quality supposedly Radio Shack or appliance/entertainment stores usually have a rack of different types for audio and video as well.
