HD Video Camera

I'm looking at getting a HD video camera as I've really gotten into video editing at Uni.

I came across this one and it looks great!

It shoots in 720p which isn't bad, it'd certainly do for publishing my videos to the web. Also, another big factor for me is the FPS, I'd be doing a lot of sports videos, so I'd want to be able to include some decent slow-mo if I wanted. The Samsung shoots at 50FPS, which is pretty decent, I found this video on YouTube before. Good quality and it shows the FPS pretty well;

What do you think? Any other suggestions around the same price?

Thanks! :)

Aiptek GVS FTW...when talking about cheap HD cameras. That Samsung does seem better than the cheaper one I tried, but I will say I got a 720p Samsung camcorder like that and the quality was horrendous!

The Kodak Zi6 has gotten pretty good reviews, especially for a camera in the $150 price range; although that is a bit cheaper than the one you were looking at. Not sure of a better one at the price point of the Samsung you picked out.

Have you thought about the flip?

It only shoots at 30FPS, which is far too slow.

Yeah, I'd probably be better looking at a Canon or something, right?

I'm after something a bit more substantial, also, that's only 30FPS.
Yeah, the Samsung looks Ok I guess, but the quality isn't great apparently.

I'm planning on getting a Canon VIXIA HF200 or HF20 pretty soon. The Aiptek is an awesome camera but can be pretty sorry in low light. Though most CMOS camera's don't have the best low-light sensitivity.

Get the Canon HF200. It shoots in 1080p and is a great camera for the price. I had the previous model (HF100) and it was an awesome camera!

Question: Why do you want something that shoots more than 30fps? Movies are played at like 29fps

Not my forte but I believe Kornowski's interested in slow motion, so the faster fps at normal shooting means the better quality showing slow motion.

The consume grade camcorders either record at 30p or 60i, but even though 60i is 60FPS, it is not good for fast moving objects.
