Having trouble with wireless

Well i just bought a new NETGEAR N750 Wireless Dual Band because my old router wasnt cutting it. The router is about 75 to 100 ft away and i get 2/5 bars, so i want to increase the range of it but i dont know how. Secondly it doesnt seem to want to connect to anything when the security options is on. Any advice?
 
Change the wireless channel to see if you can get better signal strenth or sometimes in the routers configuration page you can actually increase power for the wireless. Maybe your wireless devices doesn't support the type of security you are using?
 
What OS is on the laptop? If its Vista, therein maywell lay your problem :)

If you go to Network and Sharing Centre, Manage Wireless Networks and Manually add the network it should then find it.

If the network already exists, delete it and re-add it.
