hey everyone,
i am trying to access my desktop harddrive from my laptop. I was told that i can do so by typing in \\computername\C$ in the address space. I have tried it and i was able to except everytime i do so, a window pops up that asks for my password. the username is written in and cannot be change. It says computername\guest. My problem is that i need to find out the password to access the hard drive. Does anyone know any solutions?

just setup a network between to two and enable file/print sharing and share the c drive and u can map the c drive so u dont have to type it in everytime.

setting up a network would require wires i'm guessing... i want wireless access to my desktop's harddrive. if there is a way to set up a network that is wireless then plz tell me how

The C$ is an ADMIN level access to your drive. If you want to share the drive then right click on it (from the pc it is in) and share the entire contents. Then to access it use //computername/c
It will require no password, as it is not admin access.

If you can access your HD with the C$ THIS IS VERY BAD! As other people can do it to. If your on an unsecured network, they can delete files, install viruses... etc.. PUT A PW ON YOUR PC! (which this guy already does, as explained above)

So just share the drive, it is already networked. YOUR DONE!

hey thanx a lot trizoy i can now access my desktop harddrive. so how do i put a password on the harddrive so that other people can't access it and only i can?

In the same place where you enabled sharing... A nice thing is you can make the drive not "visable", meaning you can only map to it with the //computername/c

It wont show as a folder...
