If you're rounding up. But no, it really does depend on the game. I wouldn't make a blanket statement like it's on par with the 280, but in many situations it is so.

From what I heard the 4870 is only about 10-20% slower then the GTX 280, but is much cheaper.

Yes I love these price wars.Keeps both companies prices under control.Nvidia will have to cut alot more on their cards to keep them competitive .Sweet for us consumers. . It doesnt matter which brand you prefer,if there was only one brand we would get financially raped.

in australia the 4850's are around AUD$220-250, the same price as the 8800gt. which means that its a great deal as, according to all the benchmarks, it performs better then it in every game.
