GTS 250 too hot to touch

So today randomly my computer froze up and got the blue screen. So I turned off my computer, opened it up and looked to see if anything was wrong. I touched the underside of the graphics card and nearly burnt myself. I let it cool off then I tried to boot up my computer. It won't turn on anymore with my GTS 250 in there. The card also instantly overheats. So right now im stuck with my integrated graphics card. Anyone know what the problem could be? The case im using is my hp pavillion one.. I'm not sure it has the greatest air flow.. But I have been using the card for about a month now. So I don't think the case is the issue.

To be specific its the BFG Nvidia GeForce GTS 250 OC'd version.

Does the fan spin on the cooler? it might have died. change the thermal paste, and if needed get an aftermarket cooler.

yeah the fan spins. I got an RMA for it either way. Lifetime warranty ftw. But I would rather not send it back if its something I could fix. Do you think that a cooler would fix it though? Because the computer won't even boot up when I put the card in. But I guess I could try an aftermarket cooler, either way I'll have a better one if my card still doesn't work and a I send mine in for RMA and get a brand new one back.

nah it most likely burned out. Either way it wasnt supposed to happen and you should get it replaced

listen i have a geforce gtx 260. Great card. using the windows xp drivers which came with the card. i noticed it was very hot. idle about 59* but i downloaded the recent version to nvidias drivers and installed it on a clean Windows 7 OS. Idle 39.*

try upgrading the drivers and also try upgrading the OS

download RivaTuner, enable universal fan control (in power users section) and bump it twice as high as it's stock speed. eg, if it runs at 30% normally, then bump it to 60% and see what the temps do.

How am I supposed to adjust the fan at all if my computer wont even boot up with the card in? I'll try out the drivers suggestion though.

Edit: I tried updating the drivers but that didn't do anything.

My 9800 GTX+ ( basically same card ) with stock fan speed idles at 57 degrees. Never gets much hotter than that when I'm using - but I crank the fan to 100 percent if I'm gaming.

Lol don't listen to what anyone is saying. Just RMA the card and call it good. Don't mess around with trying to fix it because you'll most likely void the warranty. Next time around though, definitely do what these guys are saying to get the temps down ;)
