Well im in sixth form at the moment and considering computer games programming, I have found a great media college in Manchester that does courses for computer games programming and im going to ring them up soon to ask about it :D
Is anyone here a computer games programmer or just had experience with programming, if so what are the programming courses like? Seeing as C++ looks slightly scary D:

I started learning to program recently and just about all languages have stuff very similar to others. I started out learning python, which is pretty simple and easy to learn after you get to know the basics of it.

Here is a full guide to getting it, it is from the python website and has all the stuff on where to get it, how to get started, whree to find some good guides etc

Great thanks I actually downloaded python recently for some crazy mod for oblivion xD is that the easiest programming language?

different people find different things easy, i think python is an arse to start off with if you have never programmed before, but it snowballs and once you know the basics it gets easier and easier. I personally find it quite easy, but you may find it hard.

read that thread for more help, it is the one that i posted asking about programming just under 2 months ago, it all helped quite a bit. I would recomend Python over perl by the way if you find yourself with a tossup between the two

I'm hopefully going into a games-orientated CS course, you will need to learn C++ to be a serious games programmer. That language uses hardware much better than languages like Python which can be used for "lighter" games. Look at flash too, but then I hate flash...
