gig router need a gig modem?

Hey i was looking into getting a d-link dgl-4100 gigabit gaming router but i was wondering if i also needed a gigabit modem too, or does the modem put out enough to support this router. I have a linksys wrt54g modem.
 
A modem is a modem. The only problem i would see is if your modem is more than 1.5 years old... You should upgrade. Older models usually screw things up, as i found out first hand.
 
I can't say that all modems and such would work together just fine, but get this... Most Router's WAN ports are only 10mbps, as are most modems network port... Routers are made to connect two networks together, and in the case of most consumers, the internet and their local network. It is SUPPOSE to correct the speed difference, etc etc...so it all works together.
