Geting wireless internet for my laptop

Ok so I'm going to order a dell inspiron 6000 laptop with a Intel® PRO/Wireless 2915 Internal Wireless (802.11 a/b/g, 54Mbps) card in it. My two current computers are hardwired and i have dsl. I have a linksys wireless-b router and i'm not sure how to hook it up wirelessly with my laptop. I don't have anything wireless now... Can someone explain what I need to do? :confused:

im no network genius myself... but i have pretty much the same setup with a toshiba... n it automatically detected the linksys and connected me one.. i just had to set up my username and password security code when logging onto my linksys with my laptop.
 
ah... So when you turned on ur laptop it detected it and asked u to make a username, password and security code? I don't see why it detected your router and not someone elses...
 
If you're close enough it will detect any open WIFI signal and ask you which one you wnat to use. As long as your router has the the option to broadcast the encrytion enformation, it is by default, then you'll be able to connect right up
