hey guys. just found this really neat giant treasure hunt game that uses GPS units to find 'Caches' placed by other people. there are caches EVERYWHERE, all over the world. ive been Geo Caching since this summer, and it has been a blast. i encourage all of you to check it out here.

Sounds like a great way to get out and explore new places you wouldn't normally. I would just pissed if I took some hike miles out in the middle of nowhere to discover someone took the "cache" lol.

lol, that would be interesting. Couldn't get the page to load on my dialup, do you need a GPS for it?

Yes, you do...how else would you find it?

Of course you don't specifically need a gps unit...most phones with GPS are capable of doing it. There are free gps programs for phones, too...the problem is getting it past your carrier's locks. I had to use a modified version of google maps, some 3rd part software, and my phones master key to get it working.

Done it sporadically--must say it's quite fun! The geocaches are usually placed because someone found a cool spot and wanted to share it with others--so you find some pretty neat locations, landmarks, etc. that you wouldn't have otherwise.

Just something neat to do and gets people out of the house. Personally never done it myself as when I go outside I go fishing However never go alone...lots of freaks and weirdos out there and some locations are out in the middle of no where.

Very true, as I like walking/trekking in the middle of nowhere, you may meet me.

I've done it before but not on a big scale, and once found always replaced it with something equally as good and interesting.

yeah, when you talk about it, it doesn't seem fun... but it is. i go all the time with my dad. there's caches in state parks, cemeteries, city parks, rest areas, trails, and even one in the International Space Station. I have tons of fun. here is a pic of me and my sister with a found geocache:
