generic audio driver

Hello, have a HP mini 110 that came with windowsXP home installed. Needed to install windowsXP professional which I did. Downloaded and installed all the required drivers and the system is up and running except for the audio. When installing the audio driver got an error message that said "the hardware detected is not supported by this IDT software package and installation is aborted". HPtech support had me upgrade the BIOS but thus did not help and then stated that the audio driver could only be be installed on windowsXP home and I would have to restore winxp home. Is there a generic
audio driver that I could use? Found some realtech drivers on guru3d.com but did not know if they would work or how to determine which one would be usable with my laptop

That's awfully weird. Did you go under XP Pro on the driver download page on HP's support site?

Try going through Device Manager and directing it to install the drivers, using the advanced mode, selecting audio devices, choosing the folder with the INF, etc etc. If the package has all the files extrated, typically this method is more reliable than installation packages.
