Gaming PC Build

Hi all,

A friend of mine is looking to build a PC for gaming and has asked me to pick out the parts. He has a budget of around €1600 (it can go a bit over)

He wants it to run pretty much all games perfectly. The only specific thing he has asked for is that it have an SSD and be able to have multiple monitors (most likely 3). He doesn't have a preference for Intel or AMD, which would be better? :)

I'm not really sure where to start with building a PC with a budget like this, never done it before. I'd really appreciate any help! :)

Does the 3 monitors have to be included in the €1600 ?

Does he require other peripherals ?

Looks good.

I think the total falls quite a big step lower than the budget so you might have the option of upgrading the GPU.

I think the 780 is £200 more than the 770, so it's quite a big step up. I'm not quite sure what's the performance difference between the both and if it's worth the extra £200.

The GTX 780 is quite a big step above the GTX 770. On 1080p and 1440p it is typically around 5% slower than GTX Titan, and on a 3x monitor setup it would outperform the GTX 770 a lot more.
I'd make room in the budget for the 780, it's worth it in my opinion.

Thanks for all your help! :)
Adding in the 780 keeps it on budget! It does look worth it!

As for the RAM would it be better to break it down into smaller modules rather than the two 8GB ones. The reason I went for those was to leave room for expansion, but would it function better with smaller modules?

Also, is it worth building this PC as opposed to buying one pre-built? Is this better value? Would I get a PC equally as good for the same price do you think? :)

I don't believe there's any benefit to cut down the ram. It will function the same as a 4, 4GB Modules and it leaves room for expansion as you said, so I'd stick to 2 x 8.

I doubt you could get a PC of similar specs pre-built for the same price. In fact, I'm pretty certain you won't. Not with quality components brands any way.

Plus, building a PC is a great experience, you learn a lot.

Cool!
Also, just to be positive, a fan is included with the CPU, isn't it? :)

Yes, but you might want to look for some aftermarket heatsink/fan. They are much better and will lower your temps. They are not essential unless you are planning on overclocking.

Ah okay :) I won't be doing any overclocking so I guess it'll be fine. Also the case I was looking at has fans included on it, I presume all that should keep it nice and cool :)

Does that look okay?

Sorry for all the questions, just want to be sure :P
You've a great help! Thank you so much! :)

That's ok, glad to be of help :)

The case looks really good for that price, and I believe it comes with a front rear and bottom fan included which will help keep your system cool.

If wanted you could buy an additional side 120mm fan and a rear 120mm. I don't think you really need the additional fans but that of course is up to you.
