sorry but which ip address is 0.0.0.0?
When you connect the machine to the router does it get an ip address - (something like 192.168.x.x)
When you update the firmware you will normally loose all your settings, so expect a connection loss untill you reset all your ppoe settings.

What happen when you try to connect to the ip address that the router normally occupies. eg 192.168.2.1
do i have to run setup disc again?
that wont do much at this stage

Officially one of the longest senteces known to mankind. Ok, first thing is first. Have you called your isp to have them run a check to show connectivity between them and the modem? Assuming that is good, try pulling the power on both the modem and the router. Let them sit for about a minute. Plug back in and hope for connectivity. It appears that either the router or modem is not renewing ip.
