FS(ish) iPod raffle $1!!

Alright, so I have this iPod Shuffle (1gb 3rd Gen Silver) that I've never opened and can't seem to sell, so I came up with the idea to raffle it off here.
For each "Ticket" its $1, each person can buy up to 5 tickets.
If I sell more then 10 tickets, the shipping is free to the USA. Otherwise, it'll be $9.00 for shipping.
To buy a ticket, just PM me and we'll work it out.

I hope the mods approve of this :D

I will choose the winner on Sep. 2nd

TICKETS SOLD: 0

It's not a fundraiser.

How do I know if I buy a raffle, that you will actually send it? I mean you said "FS(ish)" which leads me to beleive that if you don't get enough raffle tickets you won't send it. So how do I know that if you don't raffle it off and I bought a ticket that the money will get back to me?

This is actually a really good idea and I may have to steal the idea from you.

Anyway, I would totally buy a ticket, but as you know, my paypal is on the fritz. Good luck, free bump (10 minutes after the original post XD).

No, its not a fundraiser, its just a way of selling my iPod.

I am totally and 100% getting rid of it, the FS(ish) is at the fact that its not really for sale, but for raffle. If I sell ONE ticket, I will still ship the iPod to the purchaser of that ticket.
But, like it says in the first post, if there are less then 10 tickets sold, the person receiving the iPod will have to pay shipping.

how long do you plan on holding this? like, whens the ticket deadline? i know you're drawing the 2nd, but, are you going up to that?

I want in.... how exactly do I buy tickets though? I have paypal and debit.

And this is the clipon one isn't it?

I am planning on going until the 2nd, but if I get over 45(doubtful), I'll pick a winner early

Yes, this is the one with the clip on the back. I accept Paypal.

Do you have actual tickets that you're selling? How will the winning ticket be produced? I mean, I know how a raffle works, but can you provide some type of proof that you're actually holding a raffle...some type of proof that the winning number will be produced fairly?

Well, you make a good point.
I'm not really sure of any way that I can solidly prove that I chose one of them at random. One thing I will be doing is editing the top post with who bought a ticket, along with a ticket number that I will also PM to them.
I'm open for ideas if anyone has any better suggestions.

record it and have people there when you do it, like parents etc....

might be easier to stick it on ebay :P

I've PM'd ceewi1 about this (he moderates this section). I personally don't have a problem with this, but we need to make sure that the contest is held with some integrity. You know what I mean? There's a website called http://www.randomizer.org/. Maybe you could sell numbers or something...

I'll leave it up to ceewi1. In the meantime, I think this should be put on hold. Funysnair was recently ripped off by another member (who was banned), so I think it's better that we think this through a little and make sure everything is fair.

Yeah, cause I'm not buying into something where you could just pick the winner as a friend. (Not that I would anyway.)

Yeah, thats a great idea, I'll have everyone that buys a ticket pick a number from 1-100 and I'll PM all the numbers to a moderator and he'll put them in the randomizer, assuming a Mod is willing to help. If not, just close this and I'll sell it another way.

Let's see what ceewi1 has to say. If no one has a problem with it, I'd be willing to help. Like I said, though, I don't think you should collect any money until this is sorted, and a raffle definitely won't work.

I don't have a problem with the idea either, but I do want to make sure it's fair. Whoever is choosing the number should not know which member has that ticket. How does this sound?
  • You PM me a list of people who have bought tickets, and the number of tickets they've bought.
  • I assign a random number to each ticket and PM this list of names/numbers to mep916 so that it can be verified.
  • You then select the winning number and I will post who that winning number corresponds to.
Can anyone see any problems with this idea? A quick word of caution - I would imagine you would get more back for the iPod selling it on eBay than selling tickets here. Let me know what you'd like to do.

Agree 100% ceewi1, sounds like a very good plan.

I agree with the ebay thing as well.

Well, I don't wanna make unneeded work for you guys, so I'll just sell it like a normal person.
Thanks for helping me sort it out though.

Sounds fair to me. They're basically virtual tickets. We can make the winning number between 1-100, with the ticket prices and limits Timmie originally proposed. This would allow a max of twenty entries, and a max total of $100 for Timmie. As ceewi1 stated, you may be able to get more on ebay, but I think this would be a fun contest for CF. :)

Timmie, if you like this idea, you should consider using that website to choose the winning number.

EDIT: Oh well. :(
