fs: Gigabyte GTX 570 - $320

Why would you want a 6970 over a gtx570??? It's like 2-4 FPS better in games, certainly not worth the effort or expense of changing....you will notice no real difference whatsoever!
If you want some kind of upgrade, I would SLI gtx560 Ti's or something...or just get another 570.

At 1920x1080 the GTX 570 will probably perform better from what I have read. The 6970 seems like it performs slightly better at high resolutions due to the larger vram but the 570 performs better on lower resolutions. The 570 has a higher score on this site: http://www.videocardbenchmark.net/high_end_gpus.html At best you'll get what 87dtna said, maybe 1-2% better performance. I spent alot of time deciding between these 2 until I decided to go with the 570 because my monitor is 1680x1050.

Those cards pretty much trade blows with each other gaming. Though I have seen the 570 really tear it up and in a few games! That is why I went 580 over the 570 to replace my 6950s. Not much of a difference for the money.

IMO the 570 is the better deal. 30% cheaper and only 10% less score on Passmark. $470 is just too much for me for a video card. Ive never been a fan of paying much over $300 for a video card.

well most 6950 2gb's will unlock to 6970's, but what if you get screwed and it doesn't unlock? Meh, not worth the chance.

$470? My GTX 580 I bought is a Lightnign Xtreme 3GB. It was $620 after shipping!

I got this one for its the 3 GB vram and the fact that it is THE BEST 580 you can buy per every review site.

I just saw that that the cheapest 580 and 570 on Newegg were those prices. I just bought my 570 on Newegg 2 weeks ago for just under $300 after instant and mail-in rebates. However I only use a single monitor and its only a 22", but 3gb vram seems like it would be way more then even 2 monitors need and 2/3 of a grand is not something I would be willing to do for a computer component when I can pay 1/2 that and get performance decrease that isnt even noticeable. If the only option was to pay that to run new games at higher settings I certainly would though.

I wanted to have the best. The features the card has are top notch. I also wanted to future proof it for the next 2 years as much as I can.

I know buying a $600 gpu is crazy to most, it was to me up until now. I dont expect many to agree with it :)
