I will second that it is wonderful for physical activity. I use it for working out, and it never gets in the way. Tuck it down into my pocket, run the cord under my outermost shirt, then to my ears. Tuck the excess cord down my pants, and it doesn't bother me at all.

Unfortunately mine just mysteriously corrupted the other day, need to do some further investigations on it to figure out what the heck happened.

Yeah, it is my sisters, she plays volleyball at her college, and had this one for 2 weeks before christmas, when she got an ipod nano. But she loved the portability of it, and the ease of putting files on it.
