Well, because I thought my motherboard had bit the dust, I decided to move on to AM2 and DDR2. I put my stuff on ebay and was ready to RMA the board when I realized that it only stopped working because of the RAM config. The PSU died, and when I re-inserted the RAM, I did it in the wrong order (those DFI boards are terribly picky). So, I guess I'll be putting the board up soon.
But for now, it's just the CPU and RAM.

AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+. Served me nice for years, and sorry to see her go.

OCZ Platinum Dual-Channel 2X1GB set DDR400 2-3-2-5. Some of the nicest stuff you'll find anywhere.

That 4400+ will be like hotcakes, it will go for hundreds if its good timing. Good luck selling :)

Ya, isn't the 4400 the fastest processor for 939? Seeing as it's close to christmas, this might be a good time, GL.

Well, I think there's the 4600 and the 4800. But the 4400 is pretty darn close to being the fastest S939 out there.

Thanks guys :)

Ah, we've got an older Athlon 3000 462 at work, those things go for $120 on ebay.

What's so good about them? I got my 5000+ for $56 and it's better than both the 3000+ and 4400+, isn't it? Is it just because socket 939 CPUs aren't as common as socket AM2s?

Yup, even thought there are much better and cheaper processors for the AM2 platform, some people don't want to upgrade their motherboard, RAM, or AGP video card.

Well, that makes sense I guess... :P

Ya, it's older so it's more rare. Same thing applies to classic cars. There was a time when you could get them dirt cheap, and now most of them bring in a pretty penny.
