Front audio not working

Hi,

I recently installed a new motherboard into a case to find that my front audio ports arent working but my back ones are. It isn't the headset because It works on the back and not the front. The audio wire is correctly inserted into the pins on the motherboard and the HD audio drivers are installed so I am not sure what the problem is. Can anyone help please?

Thanks

You either have a bad motherboard or a bad front panel on the case. Sometimes there are 2 sets of connections that you can connect to the header on the motherboard an ac97 header and an hdaudio, does yours have both of these?

There is 1 wire which says "AUDIO" on it, which I put into the motherboard. I dont think the motherboard or case are bad because they are brand new. Rather than having individual wires, its kind of moulded so it can only fit in the motherboard one way..

Just because the parts are new does not mean they can't be bad. As johnb35 was getting at, you need to make sure that you are connecting the case's front panel wire (AUDIO) to the proper header on the motherboard. Check your motherboard's manual for the correct port.

Also, some molded connectors, like the one you mention, may not be wired properly to your motherboard's specifications. Not everyone follows standards.
