Free Software Liability

Hi,

My first time on your forum. I'm hoping somebody my have some knowledge about or experience with my issue.

I've written a small program to manage passwords -- store, retrieve, modify, etc. I've given copies to a couple of people and I'm wondering if I have any liability should one of their password'ed accounts be compromised, because of my program.

Thanks for your help.

Bob

Err..why would you make your own when there are already open source programs that do this? If anything you should just contribute to the open source projects...you might be able to help out a lot. :) And for open source, there is no liability...

But the two programs are PasswordSafe and KeePass. Check them out.
PasswordSafe is on SourceForge and I believe they need help..

Err ..thanks for the advice. Before I wrote my program I knew there were free programs out there that manage passwords, and I had checked them out. However, I wanted the challenge of writing the program myself, as well as writing a program that would do exactly what I wanted to do.

yes are liable
just put a disclaimer on there, normally that is during the installation process.
