Frame Extraction

How can I extract each frame of a video and save them as a picture? Like, if I wanted to add in some frame by frame effects.
Any help?
Thanx.

Well VLC or Media Player Classic will allow you to save images from a video... But basic video editing software will probably do what you want without much effort :P

Well, what I'm looking to do is take the frames from the video, like, each thirty per second, and edit each one in photoshop, and then put them back into a movie, cause I don't have enough money for after effects. :)

from my own experience, that probably won't work so well. Generally, trying to make jpegs or still pictures into a moving picture looks choppy and out of whack... but for your situation, I'd say test it a bit first. I just don't think it'll end up so great.

Depending on your video, you might get bad interlacing and what not... Or just really blurry video. But again, video editing software would be best. I know something like premiere shows you the frame count. Just skip forward x frames and export an image.

Well, I don't want to do that for every frame in the video, that's like, 30000 plus for a super short clip. I want EVERY frame to be exported, I'll do my editing, and thenI'll slap it all back together. The did this on "A scanner darkly", but they didn't use photoshop, they used rotoshop. I know what I need to do for every step EXCEPT the frame extraction, which is probably the most difficult...

with better software say like Adobe Premiere pro, well im not saying its better because many people dont like it but you can export every frame as a still. you might be able to get a free trial of it :)
