formatting issue

hi all
like to say hello first ,im trying to format my desktop and i have it booting from the disc first .on boot up it gives me the frist blue screen and the licence part then i get a error message saying
a problem has been detected and wondos has been shut down to prevent damage to you comp

then i get a sequenece of error codes0

This is most likely bad ram. Is this a newly built pc or did you just upgrade the memory? Try using only one stick of ram and try again. Keep using different sticks of ram until it works. Or you can download a memtest and create a bootable cd and it will test your memory for errors.

If you have bad ram, then you need to figure out which is bad and get replacements. How many sticks of ram do you have and what size are they?
 
there is 2 x 512 sticks i have taken one out at a time and getting the issue with both so very unlikely both are damaged.

i get the to the licenece and then i get the issue

hi guys i run the program today and all is fine and no errors found,anyone got a clue what i can look at next please

What operating system are you trying to install and what computer are you installing to?

hi i already got xp on it but its not a genuine coopy and im trying to install a genuine copy now,when u say type of compy do you meen laptop or desk top or make as its a sony va10 desktop
 
Then most likely your bios is set to ahci mode and XP doesn't have native ahci driver support. You will need to use the recovery cd designed for that machine or you will have to slipstream the sata controller driver into a new install cd. Look in the bios first to see if you can change the sata controller setting from ahci to ide/compatibility and try reinstalling XP.
