I have several APC "Smart-UPS 750" 500W battery backups that I no longer need. They're pretty high quality; they have load and charge meters, as well as battery and circuit status indicators. A new one is rather expensive, so make an offer. Buyer pays shipping from south Alabama (about 35 lbs).

i have a paypal account, but have never used it outside of ebay, though i would be willing to try.

I'm interested. Can you possibly explain its purpose and function to me, and price?
Thank you.

It stores some power for when power goes out/other power issues. It'll keep your comp running for a bit (or whatever is plugged in to it) so you can save, or do whatever you need.

Pretty much what mr. johanssen said; it has a battery that will provide some backup power if the main power fails. at half load (250 watts), it lasts about 15 min, according to the APC site. it has a USB port to communicate with a PC, and the software can be downloaded here. it also has full surge suppression functions. as for price, i would be delighted with $75, as they go for $250-350 new.

How long does the power last? :o

Depends on the computer itself, including the monitor, ect.

Generally it is a SLA AGM 12V 7aH or 7.2aH battery.

Also, it might be a good idea to post how long it has been used (plugged in or not, hopefully plugged in).

AGM batteries tend to turn their acid into lead sulfate = less life. If it was left uncharged and unattended for extended periods of time, I doubt it would hold more than a few seconds. On the other hand, leaving it in plugged in for extended periods will also eventually shorten battery life (just not as fast or bad as leaving it discharged).

And on another hand (hehe :D), SLA AGM batteries (like ones in APC's) are less than $20 apiece. I bought 6 for $40 (shipped).
