My powerbook G4 do not boot. only a folder with a Mac logo appears when i start it. I tried instaling the OS but the hard drive wasn't detected. I suspect that it could be the hard drive. Is there anybody there who encountered the same problem before? Any help?

Boot from the CD and launch disk utility. Does it allow you to erase the hard drive, or does it not show any hard drive as being available? The main partition may have somehow became corrupt, but erasing/reformatting may fix it.
