Just finished building my first desktop.... Asus P6T Deluxe V2 - i7 920- 6gb ram etc......................... I plugged it in powered up and now at Express Gate. Might be a stupid question to some but I cant figure out what to do next. In the Bios I selected Default settings and now I dont know what to do. Do I load my boxed version of Windows 7 now or what comes next . Please laugh at me first -- then help me please Thanks

Hey Scott thanks for the reply but still nothing. I do get a notice saying No hard disk detected also BOOTMGR is missing ???

??

Do you have a hard drive? If you do, is the power connected. If so, is the SATA data wire plugged securely into the mobo?

Also, the BOOTMGR isn't in BIOS if that's where you're looking, it's at the point where you press "insert button here" to go to BIOS.

SATA Master, correct? Don't want a slave drive.

And if it's detecting master, then change boot device and go.

just noticed in BIOS SETUP UTILITY under storage config that Hard Disk Write Protection is Disabled should I change that setting

Naw, I'd keep that the way it is.

There should be some part of BIOS (you have a blue screen, right) that says something like peripherals. If you go into there, you may find a list of drives. It could be something like this:
(it may say IDE, it doesn't mean you have IDE connections, it's just something weird)

IDE Drive 1 Master [Not Inhabited]
IDE Drive 1 Slave [Not Inhabited]
IDE Drive 2 Master [SATA WD 1TB]
IDE Drive 2 Slave [Not Inhabited]

Now you want yours to be one of the Masters, not slave. If it's slave, just try plugging the SATA data wire into other ports on the motherboard.

boy o boy i wish i could see what your talking about I do not see in the BIOS SETUP U anything with the word "Pereripherals" Im sorry man for draggin you into this. Any thing else you could suggest?

I was hoping to use my WD 10,000 rpm drive as my C: drive That drive was erased and then inserted into my new machine. Maybe I should open the new box with a brand new 1.5 TB Seagate 7200 and put that in instead. What do ya think?

I suggest taking pictures of your BIOS with a camera and showing me what your BIOS looks like.

Also, a 10K RPM drive works best in a RAID... it's not really meant to stand alone.

Alright man, hope you have fun.

Feel free to add me as a contact in case you run into any problems with that sick build of yours.
