Hello, I'm going to start a 2 year degree in computers from my local community college, can someone tell me what is the best area to get a job in upon graduating?

I'm thinking about CCNA - Cisco Certified Network Associate, or CCNP - Cisco Certified Network Professional, or CWSP - Certified Wireless Security Professional, or anything that will have jobs available.

I don't care so much about salary as the availability to get a job upon graduating.

There are a lot of different area's that are needed in today's day and age. I personally was thinking on taking software coarses along with marketing and managment skills. In the area that i live, there is a very high demand for website publishers for various companies. I am sure that this high demand is everywhere now. This involves creating eye catching websites and selling them to various companies. Companies pay very high dollars for these websites. Just recently the company that i am currently working for at the moment (oil company) just bought a small outfit that created their website. A team of 10 people are now all millionaires.

If not that, then i would get into an IT department of some sort. The big thing is getting into a company that provides a service for large companies with deep pockets. One that comes to mind is a small outfit called Unity. This is an IT department that provides computer services (including virus protection, site restriction, data transferring and storage ect. ) to large companies.

Like i said there are many different area's that a person could dive into. These two are ones that i have seen and talked to who are not only in very high demand, but the pay is incrediable. As well, most companies will allow you to work from home with the occational travelling (other cities, states, or countries).

Your area really makes a difference of who is hiring for what. In the south Florida area, no one is hiring at all, so it doesn't matter how many initials you have after your name, without experience your not going to find a job.

My opinion would be to diversify yourself, and as your taking classes, ask yourself

"Could I do this for 40 hours a week?"

I have held the CCNA, and part of the reason I never renewed it, is I wouldn't want to be staring at the command prompt for 40 hours per week.

There will always be a need for Web Designers, and Windows Systems Admins, just be sure that is what is going to keep you getting up and going to work every day.

Command Prompts for 40 hours a week? wow... id shoot myself.... that would be horrible

At one time thats all there was. I don't use it much. Don't need too. Best to wait for other reply's and check back. Windows basically does the same thing. I say wait for others.
