Firefox 4 release incredibly slow?

I had 4 beta and it was faster than 3.6 and Chrome, but it somehow reverted back to 3.6 like a month ago. Anyway ever since the official release of 4 last night it's been incredibly slow to load. Well maybe not incredibly, but definitely noticeably slower than 3.6 was.

Problem for anyone else?

And no I don't care to change browsers, so don't even bring it up.

Yeah, I have noticed that. I've been using chrome lately, so it hasn't affected me personally, but everyone I know who uses firefox seems to have not automatically updated. I have to manually go to "check for updates," and then it tells me it can't connect to the server, then I have to relaunch firefox, then I have to update. If that's not strange enough, some peoples' computers seem to be trying to upgrade to a newer version of 3.6. Did Mozilla actually release Firefox 4 to the non-techie public? :P

I assume so. I went to the bathroom last night and came back to a pop up asking me if I wanted to upgrade. I did and it was really similar to 4 beta, only really really slow.

?? also.

I haven't had any problems with anything in FF4 other than spending a lot of time making it look like v3. I don't update automatically anyway. Manual update works fine for me (now 4.0.1).

To add to it....I'm an add-on "junkie", so I have a lot of them.
With the same number of add-ons, FF4 opens much faster for me, than FF3.6

I had far more issues with the beta than the final release. The beta would freeze for several seconds after opening and some add-ons didn't work. But everything is working fine for me.

The official release overwrites and installs over the beta, but yeah maybe a fresh install helped fix anything that had gone wrong.

I didn't much notice a difference in speed, I did notice however how much I hated the "new look" and the lack of 1 click "default" look. So till I find such a addon or script I will be sticking with 3.6 :P I can only imagine the headache 4.0 will cause with my grandparents as they get headaches looking at Chrome. (I thank my idiot uncle for installing that one for them)

I am curious though is there a Firefox Lite version out there?

You can right click on the toolbar and enable the menu bar.

and disable tabs on top.

Other than the Stumble bar being moved above the address bar mine looks basically identical to earlier versions. Though I am pissed that the undo closed tab button add on doesn't show up even though there's a version for 4.0.
