Final cut questions

Nope, its an Apple product. :(
Bummer, I know.
The alternatives are Avid, Sony Vegas Pro, and Adobe Premiere. Once you get used to them (which shouldnt take long), they'll work fine. They really all pretty similar (but final cut rules all ;) imo )

I personally havent used all of them for more than a few minutes each (Im a FCP guy) but seems like Premiere would be the way to go, just because I imagine it'd integrate the easiest with other adobe products. Especially if youre doing motion graphics with After Effects.

EDIT, I was curious so Im dling the premiere demo ;)
..oh yeah, i think all 3 of them (i know sony and adobe do) have demos so you can try them out and see which you prefer.

Yeah..that sucks. I have sony vegas, its a good program but final cut has so much more to offer. I'll just have to get a Mac if i ever find a job!!!!
Any suggestions on what Mac to get?

Adobe Premiere is where it's at! ;)

For the PC yea. But its no where as easy as Final Cut.

Comp_Newb All Macs now expect for the Mac mini and the plastic mac books would most likely run Final Cut. If you want more performance get an MacBook Pro or a Mac Pro. Both expensive or get a Mid-Range iMac.

Depends on how much money youre going to spend and if youre looking for a laptop or not. Macs are a bit easier to shop for because theres only one line and obviously the more you spend, the better it will be.

For video editing, youre going to need/want a bit of ram. The more ram you can pack in (to a point), the faster your render times will be
